While most of my work involves writing HTML/CSS and/or PHP coding, I am happy to tell clients that I can “do it all”, including graphics.
Recently, a client asked if I could convert a JPG of his logo into a scalable vector-based EPS version so he could have some very large signs created. I opened up Adobe Illustrator CS5 and had the job done for him in about an hour. He was thrilled and happy that he didn’t have to go searching for a graphic artist to do the job. I had previously done his website for him, so I was the first person he contacted for help. While I occasionally do logo design, I do a LOT of web graphics. Everything from banner ads to headers and any other image you can imagine that needs to be inserted into a web page.
A question I often get is “can you do eBooks?” (or eZines or DVD/CD covers)? I work with a lot of information marketers and having a nice graphical representation of their product is essential to enticing customers to opt-in and achieve a new lead. I enjoy the creativity of creating a 3 dimensional image for them and I love being the “go-to-girl” for whatever they need for their site(s). The graphic in this post is one I created just today for a client. While it takes some Photoshop skills to lay out the desired finished product, the transformation from a 2-D image to a 3-D image is basically a single click. There are a number of vendors who provide packages of Photoshop Actions you can purchase to create these images from a 2-D start. The one I use is called Cover Action Pro 2.0 and can be found at CoverActionPro.com. It’s well worth the money to have this skill in your arsenal!
